Today was another great day as I spent first half of my day delivering speech to M.Tech students at PES Bangalore, one of the leading Engineering Institute in India. I always cherished those moments connecting with students, inspiring and motivating them to do better than what I did.
.
This opportunity stuck when our former MD of Novell, Alka Agrawal pinged me few days back asking me to deliver a community talk. Alka currently works on very inspiring job as Visiting Faculty at PES helping the students to deliver better standards and bridge the growing gap between industry and institutes. She recently saw my website, SecurityXploded.com and impressed with my dedication/passion (and that’s real, no bragging 🙂 ). So she asked me to present the same before the students so as to help them to know what it takes to do and how they can go on similar line, Following their Heart !
.
.
I started the talk with my education, professional background and then moved on to my real work at SecurityXploded.com. I went on describing my journey through the times, the way I started it during my college days by contributing articles to Codeguru.com, Codeproject.com, then getting on the top of Novell Cool Community Solutions with my 20+ tools/articles and currently channeling my passion through SecurityXploded.com.
.
Then I talked about how they can share their knowledge/work with the world through blogging, putting their projects on the Net, hosting their own website, working with larger Linux community etc. Later I offered them few points on how they can monetize their work so that they can support their work and keep it going.
.
I presented some of the live examples of young nerds such as Harsh from ShoudMeLoud.com, Nishant Das Patnaik, Rohit of ClubHack etc so as to show them they can really make the different to their life. Finally I offered some tips on dealing with Community Work, how to take on various things, advantage of Knowledge Sharing etc.
.
I also demonstrated one of my tool, StreamArmor explaining them what it takes to write such a tool, how I plan it out, how I complete it part by part etc. This is to show them that ‘Its not a Big Deal’ and they can very well do it in their field of passion !
.
Overall, it was more of Knowledge Sharing and Inspirational Talk to lift the spirits of these young guns. This was another great talk which I enjoyed like my earlier presentation at NITK Surathkal on ‘Application Virtualization’ .
.
It is always great feeling to leave some one inspired, motivated and I derive great pleasure from such a work. And today was just that great day where I lifted the spirits of many Souls !
